The title is the digital timestamp from a camera of a photo uploaded to Facebook at the height of the revolution in Syria. The photo portrayed a friend laying down on his side to display a back full of fresh wounds and scars – the result of a brutal police interrogation in Damascus.
In prints, his scars are the only remaining information – a collection of black gestural marks, expression of violence that could almost be an abstract painting. Each print in the series of five recedes the wounds as, now analogous to brushstrokes, they become less and less opaque and eventually disappear.
