One hour is sixty minutes, and vice versa

2009, wall clock, mirror

Hindu-Arabic numerals originated in India in the 6th or 7th century and were introduced to Europe through the writings of Middle Eastern mathematicians, especially al-Khwarizmi and al-Kindi, about the 12th century.

One hour is sixty minutes, and vice versa plays with a conception of directions and norms embedded in our language, and therefore culture. The clock going counterclockwise appears to work properly only when viewed through a mirror – in an elusive reflection of reality.
