The title is the digital timestamp from a photo uploaded to Facebook at the height of the revolution in Syria. The photo portrayed a man laying on his side, displaying a back full of fresh wounds and scars – the result of a brutal police interrogation after being arrested from a peaceful demonstration in Damascus.
His wounds, translated into print, are the only remaining information from this scene. They form a collection of black gestural marks, an expression of violence that could almost be an abstract painting. In each print in the series of five, the wounds recede from the viewer. Now analogous to brushstrokes, they become less and less opaque, eventually disappearing.
