I Haven't Slept for Centuries

2018, digital print on paper, 200x139,5 cm

In the creation of this work, stamps representing a multitude of granted visas, passed checkpoints and denials of entry were copied from the artist’s own passports. These isolated stamps were then collaged onto a single, crowded page. These decade of movement between different countries coalesce into a single mass as a new identity begins to emerge. As the layers of ink in the print become increasingly opaque, the original identity begins to be obscured, a tiny fraction disappearing with each stamp.
